“TONG”

Assistant Professor Pachaya Akkapram [Tong] graduated from the Department of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. He is currently a full-time lecturer, practitioner, and researcher in the Division of Performance Practice, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University. Tong teaches and works in theater practices such as directing and applied theatre, including educational theatre, community theatre, theatre for development, youth theatre, and contemporary theatre/performance.

In addition, Tong is also interested in the Isan arts and culture and is the initiator of many projects that integrate theater arts with the Isan community’s arts and culture, such as the Moving ISAN project, a pilot project to create contemporary Isan performances by bringing teachers in higher education institutions, local artists, and students to work together. Moreover, he is the founder of the Mor Din Daeng Puppetry Group of the Cultural Center at Khon Kaen University and is the director of the creative youth theatre project titled Kaen Isan Wat from 2019-present. Currently, Tong uses theater activities to develop cultural tourism and the creative economy in Northeastern Thailand.
