Maïmouna Jallow

Maïmouna Jallow is a multidisciplinary African feminist artist and content creator. In 2021 she released her debut film, Tales of the Accidental City, an experimental feature-length in which all the action takes place on Zoom. She is the author of the children’s books I’m the Colour of Honey and Our World-Kenya, and in 2018, she edited an anthology of twelve re-imagined African folktales entitled Story Story, Story Come (Pavaipo/Ouida Books). A lover of the stage, Maïmouna has also toured four continents with a one-woman adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives. She works with young artists and in communities, both as artistic director of creative residencies and facilitating workshops in storytelling and communications.

In 2016, she co-founded the Nairobi-based arts and media company Positively African. Prior to that, Maïmouna worked as a producer for the BBC World Service and as Regional Communications Officer for Medécins Sans Frontières (MSF) in the Horn of Africa region. She holds an MA in African Literature from SOAS, University of London, and is currently based in Barcelona, Spain.
